I went to a show at Le Poisson last night to see Deerhoof. Their opening band blew me away! The husband and wife duo from Sweden,
Wild Birds and Peacedrums just made the audience go wild. Every other phrase I heard was a statement of awe, amazement, and suprise. "Oh my god!! That ruled!!"
The female singer, who shall remain nameless because I simply don't know her name, has a heavy soulful and raspy voice that has a hint of Feist flavor in it, but way more badass. The funky rythm between her clanging on a steel drum and emotional filled shouts of verses plus her husband's kick ass drumming with make you bob your head and jump up and down whether you meant to or not. For a group that is only made of two performers, the ears are given quite a taste of full volumous intricate beats. SO ENTERTAINING! go see them:
