"Photo Manipulations are always very interesting to watch because - and that's what is important - they give a realistic view of an unreal picture. Erik Johansson, a 23-year-old computer engineering student, from sweden has a sense for good ideas for manipulations." VIEW ERIK'S WORK
Image manipulation provides a surreal and innovative characteristic to visual art. Viewing Erik's work made me think of the differences between post-printing manipulation VS pre-printing manipulation-Erik's niche being the latter. An incredible amount of work goes into each image that he creates; he spends, "somewhere between 10 - 20 hours for each photo." Talk about patience- something I need some more of.
But anyway, to get back to the topic: image manipulation. If you read my blog about Gerhard Richter, you will remember my interest of fusing media (paint/photog). I am brewing some ideas about this now and I am considering artists such as Richter, Johansson, Dalek, and several other artists that interest me. Where exactly I am going with this is unclear to some extent, but I at least know that I will soon be creating a body of work which involves post-printing manipulation.
